• -  did you know that Eve (women) was totally evil and Adam (men) was just dumb?  if you read carefully, you’ll see that God only instructed Adam not to eat of the tree of knowledge.  this was before Eve was created so the instruction was to Adam alone.  the serpent asked Eve about that and she was all like “um….  we’re not supposed to eat that shit.”  untrue.  it was “he” that was forbidden, not “we”.  so the serpent did his thing, appealing to her ambition and she ate it.  then what?  then nothing.  nothing happened to her after she ate it.  she wasn’t damned because she wasn’t forbidden to eat it.  in her own head, though, she may have thought that she was fucked.  it’s either that or she wanted Adam to share her ambitions.  whatever the reason, she convinced Adam to eat it and THEN the situation got screwed.  locked out of the garden.  toil for food.  pain during childbirth.  yada yada yada. 

  
  

  -  regarding Paul Hamm and his ill-begotten gold medal.  he should not have to give up his gold.  even though the total corrected score adds up in favor of the korean, Paul Hamm finished first.  here are a few things i am considering:  1.  the event in question was not the last event.  they still went on to compete in other events after the mistake.  2.  it doesn’t seem to be solid fact that the koreans protested at the right time.  i hear different versions everywhere.  3.  athletes perform differently under different situations and there is no way to predict that every other score after the mistake would be identical to the real scores had they corrected it at that moment.  if it were the last event, you could definitely say that the mistake had no effect on the previous scores.  but you can’t say that because it wasn’t.  the total score is more than an addition of its individual parts.  the total score captures the true situation.  and this is no perfect total score but according to the rules it’s the only one to go by and that’s all games are, right?  a set of rules?
